Message from the County President

To all OVA members

I would like to say a big thank you on behalf of the County for putting on yet another splendid
County Champs.

Especial thanks must go to Nikki who did the organising, cajoling and otherwise persuading people
to enter, to judge, to score and to form the Field Party. The Field Party was brilliant from setting up
on Saturday, throughout the shoot on Sunday and for the most efficient clearing up.

Thank you

Sue Harper (County President)

Shooting Changes and Paddockfest

The 2011 Club Outdoor Tournament dates have changed – the 2nd Round will now be on Tue 28th and Thu 30th June, and Sun 3rd July and not this week as originally planned. See the Events Page for details of all planned events.

The Annual Paddockfest and Founders Day will be going ahead this weekend on Sunday 26th June with a fun shoot for all club members at animal targets placed at random and non-standard distances, as is traditional.

This is a handicap round, so beginners and less-experienced archers have an excellent chance of winning prizes and it’s a fun shoot for everyone. All will be explained on the day, but if you can let Laurie or John Martin know you are planning to shoot they can make sure your handicap is allocated before the day, which helps speed things along.

After the shoot and while the scores are being calculated, there will be a club social, so please bring along some finger-food for yourself and others to share. Drinks will be available through Pat’s Pantry but feel free to bring along other refreshments if you wish.

Ivy Keating 2011 – Thanks

Sunday Working Party

A big “Thank You” to all who helped at the Ivy Keating shoot at the week-end. We had a good turn-out on the Saturday for setting up the field and sufficient on the Sunday for the day. I believe the Judges were content with our efforts, however, I did have a large club hammer in my hand whenever I spoke to them, this may have helped! Attached is a photo of the Sunday work party.

A special “Thank-you” to Danny and John for towing the trailer back and forth from Woodside. It made the job very much easier to do.

Also, a special mention for Don who not only helped set-up and take down the field, but, I understand, found time to notch up a Bowman score and win the Longbow (and only) category for Bedfordshire.
