Ouse Valley Archers was formed in 1995. Based at Putnoe Primary School in Bedford, we enjoy an indoor and outdoor range and promote the sport of archery, welcoming archers from inexperienced beginners to seasoned competitors.
The club encourages archers of many different styles including recurve, compound, barebow and longbow.
Where to find us
We normally meet at Putnoe Primary School (formerly Woodside Middle School) on Church Lane in Bedford. Click the map for an expanded image or there is a link to Google with an expanded map of the location.
The school field is large and flat and allows us to hold outdoor shoots up to distances of 90 metres or 100 yards in GNAS and WA style target shooting.
In the winter and when conditions do not allow safe outdoor shooting, we have the use of the school gymnasium and dining hall where we can shoot over a range of approximately 15yds. The club hosts a number of formal and informal competitions throughout the year.
Session Times
The club mainly conducts target shooting and holds regular sessions on Thursday evenings from 7pm until 9pm, and on Sundays from 2pm until 4pm.
We are affiliated under ArcheryGB (GNAS).
Interested in joining us?
For beginners, we recommend that you attend one of the beginners courses that are run regularly throughout the year. The club has a number of experienced coaches ready to teach you all you need to know to become a confident and competent archer.
For safety, health and financial reasons we do not recommend that you purchase your own equipment until you have attended one of these courses as your requirements will almost certainly change rapidly after the first few sessions. The club has a range of equipment available for loan with which you can practice and which you can change as your technique develops and your experience grows.
For information on our beginners courses please view our Courses page.
