Founded in 1995, Ouse Valley Archers has been welcoming people to the sport of archery for 30 years. Based at Putnoe Primary School in Bedford, we enjoy both indoor and outdoor ranges, so you can shoot all year round.

We welcome archers of all levels – from complete beginners taking their first steps with a bow, to experienced archers competing at the highest levels. The club is home to a wide variety of shooting styles, including recurve, compound, barebow, and longbow.

We’re not just about shooting; we’re a friendly, supportive community. Members come to Ouse Valley Archers to improve their skills, make friends, share tips, and enjoy the social side of archery.

Where to Find Us & When We Shoot

We meet at Putnoe Primary School (formerly Woodside Middle School), Church Lane, Bedford. Click the map above for an expanded image or find us on Google Maps.

  • Outdoor range: a large, flat field with distances up to 100 metres, suitable for Archery GB and World Archery target shooting, and the option to hold some clout shoots.
  • Indoor range: in winter or when the weather isn’t suitable for outdoor shooting, we use the school’s heated gymnasium, with shooting over approximately 14 yards.

Regular club sessions are:

  • Thursday evenings: 7pm – 9pm
  • Sunday afternoons: 2pm – 4pm

We also host a variety of friendly club shoots and formal competitions throughout the year.

We are proud to be affiliated with Archery GB, the Bedfordshire County Archery Association (BCAA), and the Southern Counties Archery Society (SCAS

Interested in joining us?

If you’re new to archery, the best way to get started is through one of our Introduction to Archery Courses. These are led by experienced, Archery GB qualified coaches and give you everything you need to become a safe, confident, and capable archer.

There’s no need to rush out and buy your own kit straight away – in fact, we strongly recommend waiting. Most new archers quickly find their needs change as they develop, so the club provides a full range of equipment for you to borrow while you learn and improve.

Already an experienced archer, or a member of another Archery GB club? You’re very welcome to join Ouse Valley Archers! Please get in touch with us to discuss membership and how you can get involved.
