Join Ouse Valley Archers

If you’ve ever wanted to try archery, there’s no better time! Ouse Valley Archers is a friendly, welcoming club open to everyone, whatever your age or ability.

If you’re new to archery, you’ll need to complete an Archery GB–approved Introduction to Archery Course (details below). Once completed, you’ll be ready to join the club and continue your archery journey.

Already an experienced archer or a member of another Archery GB club? You’re very welcome too! Just get in touch with us to discuss joining directly.

We shoot twice every week at our home ground:

  • Sunday afternoons, 2pm – 4pm
  • Thursday evenings, 7pm – 9pm

Our venue is Putnoe Primary School, Church Lane, Bedford, where we have access to excellent facilities – a 100 metre outdoor range and a heated, indoor gym. We’re proud to be the only Bedford-based club that is part of Archery GB and the Bedfordshire County Archery Association.

Membership is just £120 per year (plus Archery GB fees), with reduced rates for juniors and pensioners.

Introduction to Archery – Your First Step into the Sport

Never picked up a bow before? No problem! Our introductory archery courses are designed to give you everything you need to start your archery journey with confidence.

Each course includes:

  • Expert tuition from Archery GB qualified coaches

  • All equipment provided – just bring close-fitting clothing and flat, enclosed shoes (no sandals)

  • A fun, safe, and supportive environment to learn in

Courses cost £60 per archer for adults or £40 for under 18s and run over six sessions (usually Sunday afternoons, with some Thursday evening and Saturday morning courses). Let us know when completing the application form which day works best for you. 

We run 3–4 courses each year, and they’re very popular—places often book up quickly! So register your interest today! We’ll add you to our waiting list and email you details of future courses. 

A few things to know:

  • Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times

  • Parents and guardians are warmly encouraged to join in and shoot alongside their youngsters

  • Completing the registration form doesn’t commit you—it simply means you’ll be the first to hear when new courses open for booking
